I hope everyone is having a great start to a New Year. The holidays are over and it’s back to a regular routine, which can be a good thing. I have a few sketches to share on Don’t Pick the Flowers blog. Some of these are from last year, so I knew it was time to post them. Under each set of pictures will be an explanation of who the sketch is, and when it was done. I will make this short and to the point, so you can get back to those New Year’s resolutions! Here’s to a fantastic New Year and enjoy the drawings! David
Top Left: This is a commission drawing of the late and great Prince, which I just finished. Top Right: This is a remembrance sketch of George Michael I drew last year. Thank you for letting us sing along, George. Bottom Right: A new drawing of David Bowie I drew on his 70th birthday, January 10. I wanted to draw him at an older age, not the young Ziggy Stardust. I will post this same picture below, with the lightning on his face. Bottom Left: Another remembrance drawing of the great Leonard Cohen, . This one I gave to a close friend, his favorite singer/musician.
The finished drawing of David Bowie I shared on his birthday. David is the only celebrity I have actually cried drawing a picture of. That was last year when he unexpectedly left us for the stars. I considered him my “Elvis”. We miss you David.
Top Left: A sketch of Alison Moyet, one of my favorite female vocalists. Especially when I was younger. Top Right: The amazing musician and performing artist, Laurie Anderson. I have only seen her once in concert. What an amazing experience. Bottom Left: A sketch of Grace Jones, I have loved this amazing lady for many, many years. On the right side you will see a few drawings of Grace with years written beside them. These are drawings from over the years I have sketched, check out that one from 1985.
This is a picture from last year on Veterans Day. Remembering our heroes.
