Since we are almost in the snowy season, and some already experiencing white flakes falling from the sky, I thought I would start the blog off with a snow scene I drew of Suzanne (on the left) from earlier this year. Today’s blog will feature drawings from my sketchbook, which you have probably seen over the past year if you follow me on Facebook or Instagram. I am still in the process of filtering some of my art and placing it on the blog here. There will be pictures of Suzanne, drawings of people I respect, various random “just because” drawings and a commission or two. So bear with me as I finish up the sketchbook drawings and extra art.

From the sketchbook, Top Left: Even Suzanne needed cooling off from the heat this summer and went for a swim. Top Right: A random drawing of a ghost posing for a picture. Bottom Left: Random drawing, random creature. Bottom Right: A little drawing I did after seeing my work schedule (just a joke here).

Drawings of people I respect, Top Left: Frank Black of the Pixies (I drew this on his birthday, April 6). One of the most original bands ever. Top Right: My idol Robert Smith of The Cure (I drew this on his birthday, April 21). Bottom Left: David Letterman, I always enjoyed watching his show when I was growing up and continued until he retired from The Late Show. I miss his show. Bottom Right: I drew this when I was able to get Morrissey tickets this past year. I was (and am) a huge fan of The Smiths and Morrissey growing up. It was an excellent show and was able to venture up to the front of the stage.

Top Left: A random sketch of Peewee Herman, yes I have the doll! Top Right: This is a mashup I drew of Snoopy and Andy Warhol (the hair), for “Draw Snoopy Day” and Andy Warhol’s birthday, August 6. Bottom Left: This is a picture I drew of a younger Christopher Lee. I’ll be honest, this was not one of my favorite drawings, but here it is.

To the left is artwork I drew for Robert Smith’s (The Cure) Birthday this year. I was watching “Play at Home”, the infamously weird (and wonderful) movie with Robert and Siouxsie Sioux the night before. So I wanted to give it a bit of a Alice in Wonderland feel with the teapot.

I drew this one for Tim Burton’s birthday. A true hero of mine, and I really loved the way this one turned out. I actually drew this one last year, but added color for his birthday (August 25).

The artwork for this one was done for Vince Clarke’s Birthday this past year (July 3). Again, I drew this one last year but added color on his Birthday. I have probably mentioned this before, but my character Vincent was named after the legendary musician (Depeche Mode, The Assembly, Yazoo, Erasure,VCMG).

The Pink Angry Poodle, this was drawn as a commission for a girls birthday. I had a lot of fun drawing this one.

This is a commission of Rik Mayall. This one is on the way to it’s owner. She wanted a drawing of Rik in the fashion of the infamous Calvin/Ford decal. It turned out pretty funny, and may he rest in peace.
I think this will end the back catalog of sketches and drawings, unless I keep rummaging and find something. I hope you have enjoyed the review of sketches from this past year. Until next time, keep drawing, and don’t pick the flowers!
